According to a source close to the ICC, the budget that was collaboratively produced and submitted by the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ICC finance department was examined and approved by the world body's financial and commercial committee, which is chaired by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, on Thursday. "The approximate budget is around USD 70 million and only USD 4.5 million has been allocated as additional expenses," according to a source.
There have been rumors that backup money has been set aside in case India decides not to send a squad to Pakistan and some matches must be played at alternative locations as a result of the ratification of the entire budget and additional expenses at the most recent ICC conference. According to the source, there are signs that the extra USD 4.5 million is insufficient when compared to the entire budget to pay for the relocation of matches from Pakistan.
The Asian Cricket Council, led by Jay Shah, was also in charge when the regional organization recently determined to give Bangladesh the Asia Cup in 2027 and India the Asia Cup in 2025 for T20 cricket. According to the source, India and Pakistan are in the same group for the Asia Cup next year and may meet again at the super four stage of the competition.
"A third match could happen if they qualify for the final," he stated. The source said that the Asia Cup in 2023, which was held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, was profitable for the Asian Cricket Association (ACC) despite the confusion, last-minute location changes, and additional costs incurred during the competition.
