According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi experienced its coldest night of the winter season, with the temperature dropping to 8.5°C. The city's chilly weather has been attributed to the influence of north-easterly winds.
Temperature Highlights in Karachi
- Gulistan-e-Johar recorded the lowest temperature in the city at 6.5°C.
- Other areas like Jinnah Terminal and Shahrah-e-Faisal reported temperatures of 8.5°C.
- Maripur recorded 9°C, while Bin Qasim registered 9.7°C.
Weather Forecast
The Met Office predicts a further slight temperature dip over the next 24 hours, with the mercury expected to range between 8°C and 10°C. Humidity levels in the past 24 hours were at 25%, accompanied by light north-easterly winds.
Extreme Cold in Balochistan
Balochistan continues to endure harsher conditions, with temperatures plummeting well below freezing:
- Quetta and Ziarat reported -6°C.
- Kalat recorded an even lower temperature of -7°C.
- Other regions, including Pishin, Mastung, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, and Qila Abdullah, also experienced freezing conditions.
The PMD has warned that cold and dry weather will persist in most parts of Balochistan, with icy conditions expected in mountainous areas.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe during this cold spell.
