Report: ICC agrees a $70 million budget for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which would be hosted in Pakistan.

The $4.5 million set aside for unforeseen costs may not be enough to pay for the price of shipping matches from Pakistan.

A sizeable budget of over $70 million has been allocated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for Pakistan to host the Champions Trophy in February and March of the following year.

The media sources state that the ICC's financial and commercial committee, led by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, examined and approved the budget.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the ICC Finance Department jointly submitted the budget.

"The approximate budget is around $70 million, with $4.5 million allocated for additional expenses," said a source.

Due to the budget's acceptance and the higher costs, there has been conjecture that these monies may be set aside if India declines to send a team to Pakistan, requiring some matches to be played at different locations. The insider did point out that the $4.5 million designated for supplemental expenditures might not be enough to pay for the costs of shipping matches from Pakistan.

The decision to give India the Asia Cup in T20 format in 2025 and Bangladesh the Asia Cup in 50-over format in 2027 was overseen by Jay Shah, who also serves as the chair of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

According to the source, India and Pakistan are in the same group for the Asia Cup next year, and there may be a second encounter at the Super Four stage of the competition. If both teams get to the final, there may be a third game.

Despite additional costs and venue adjustments, the Asia Cup 2023, which was held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, was profitable for the ACC. The source revealed, "The India and Pakistan games drove the profits."
